Has the thought of "de-teacherfying"
your CV left you wondering:

... how you'll find the energy?
... which online templates are considered "professional"?
... how to make your "teacher" experience sound relevant?
... what you should and shouldn't include?

... WHERE to even start?!

Because if you're like most teachers I meet, the biggest HURDLE is that your
CONFIDENCE is at an all time low and your
ENERGY left the building a long time ago!

You need to make sure that the time you invest, is giving you the best chance of translating your teacher experiences...

With someone who knows how to sell your transferable skills!

Great CVs aren’t written... they are BUILT... one section at a time!

That's why I've collated the tools used in our TEACHER CAREER CHANGE SUCCESSES
into a clearly structured, self-paced course.

"One of the most difficult elements of leaving teaching is recognising what your skills are when outside of education. As teachers we have so many, but when labelled as educational skills, they seem so small and insignificant. Jo has enabled me to look past that, recognise what strengths I have and change my mindset to reflect the outside world."

Using our tried and tested resources, teachers have been invited to interview for these AMAZING JOBS...

And these are a handful of the well-loved names
who have wanted to meet them!

"Just wanted to say a big thank you for the support you gave me in ‘de-teacher-ing’ my CV. You helped me to translate my 20+ years of experience in education into skills which would be embraced by the corporate world.

At interview, all three panelists mentioned how impressed they were with my CV and I went on to get the job! Now that I’m in post, I know just how many CVs they see and I am really grateful for your help in making mine stand out!"

The CVs & Resumes for Teacher Career Change course, gently guides you through everything you need to confidently apply for your next role.

In this step-by-step course we'll cover...

1

How to Research the Company

We want your CV/resume and covering letter to sound like you belong... that you're the new team members they've been waiting for. We're going to do that by starting by finding out what makes them tick!

2

Your Sweet Shop of CV/Resume & Templates

Not only will we break down how to write your CV/resume, but you'll also have access to sector-specific templates which showcase teacher transferable skills and prompts for you to show them how your experiences translate.

3

Your Quick Wins

We're going to build momentum by getting the simple parts done first! I'll show you how to select and save your template and the key information you need to include. We'll also look at cross referencing to your LinkedIn profile to build credibility.

4

Qualifications & References

Knowing what to include is important here and  we'll look at quick ways to boost your skills! I'll explain the etiquette for choosing references and we'll trouble-shoot problems like not wanting to use your existing line manager.

5

Shining with Confidence

No one else is going to sell you! We're going to look at the mindset needed to showcase your mad skills and I've even included a word/phrase bank! Central to this phase is articulating the impact you've had in your previous roles and I'm going to show you how.

6

Your Transferable Skills

The good stuff... after this phase you're going to be super clear on exactly what you're bringing to the table. Not only will you be able to quickly articulate how you meet the job spec but you'll also see job adverts in a new confident light!

7

Rebranding Your Experience

With my step-by-step process you'll be able to break down the job/person spec and dazzle them with examples of how you're perfect for the role. This is not your usual way of doing a CV/resume and it works...

8

Your Teacher Transition Story

Be prepared to confidently explain your move away from classroom and position yourself as a "catch". We're going to craft your "elevator pitch" so you can highlight your key skills and position yourself as the experienced leader you are.

"The resources Jo provided to help with writing a CV were fantastic. I had never written one before, let alone when trying to get a job I have no experience for (but so many skills for). The resources helped me understand how to sell my skills and how to make it professional and efficient. The videos made resources easy to understand and gave examples that helped make my CV as effective as possible."

"Jo has been amazing at helping me to re-write my CV which has secured me 2 job interviews. I really appreciated the support with breaking down the job description and structuring my CV to focus in on the key skills required for the role. Her advice about re-phrasing transferable skills from the teaching terminology we are so familiar with in to ‘real world’ equivalents has been invaluable! I now feel confident to use these skills to adapt my CV for any future roles I may apply for."

Debs

"The CV resources are super helpful! With Jo’s help, I was able to improve my CV and make it more skills based and impactful. Thanks to using the guidance, I was able to secure an interview, in which I had prepared answers that impressed the panel. I highly recommend working with Jo and her incredible resources, she makes so much sense of things and helps you to move towards where you wish to be in your career."

THE BONUSES

To make your career change journey even smoother, I've created these THREE value-packed bonuses!

BONUS #1
Translating "Teacher Speak" Cheat Sheet

For those of you struggling to even think, let alone articulate, how all the decisions and actions you take in a day would be valuable in the big-wide-world, I've made it really simple for you...

So you're ready to apply for ANY JOB, I've created a jam-packed phrase bank which you can copy and paste from when you're doing your CV, resume or cover letter.

This will honestly save you hours!

BONUS #2
Writing persuasive covering letters

So you've created an awesome CV or resume but they've asked for a covering letter... perhaps they've asked you to detail why you'd be the ideal fit for the role. But what do you actually include?

Fear not! I'll show you how to open your letter with ease, what experiences to highlight and how to close confidently.

MOST IMPORTANTLY I'm going to show you how to anticipate any objections (reservations) they might have about your suitability for the role and write persuasively to pique their interest.

BONUS #3
Understanding Applicant Tracking Systems

I don't know about you, but I'd never heard of an Applicant Tracking System before moving into the wonderful world of career change.

In this bonus we'll break down what an ATS is, what this means for your job application and what to avoid.

To make it super simple, I've included a check-list for you to use to make sure your CV or resume will pass with flying colours!

"My CV hadn’t been updated for a long time as I hadn’t needed it in teaching. The CV resources helped me to reframe my teaching skills and experience as transferable skills in the wider job market. I was able to use the templates and guides to make different versions, which highlighted particular skills depending on the job spec I was looking at and helped build my confidence that my skills were desirable outside of teaching."

"But couldn't I just pay someone to write my CV
or resume for me?"

Sure you can! BUT - before you do - you might want to consider these 3 things first:

WILL THEY ASK THE RIGHT QUESITONS?

I've coached teachers who've worked with recruiters and CV writers, and what comes up time and time again, is that the writer just doesn't know enough about teaching to draw out the teacher's experience and skills. They can't sell what they don't know!

When you're feeling low in confidence (or burnt out) you need someone to prompt you to remember all the amazing things you do.  You'll see with the examples inside that there's so much you're overlooking. Not only will I show you why your skills are highly valuable, but I'll save you the time trying to think of them all!

WILL IT SOUND LIKE YOU?

When a professional writer writes your CV or resume they're likely to be using corporate phrases and selling you. Great!

But what happens at an interview when you don't remember the key words to use or find it hard to express yourself confidently?

By writing your CV or resume yourself, not only will you have worked through your transferable skills AND understand how they match the job spec, but you'll have those confident phrases ready to go for both other applications and interviews!

TEACH A PERSON TO FISH...

Which brings me to this important piece... you don't know if you'll be writing another CV or resume - for numerous reasons, you may need to write several applications... I've had plenty of clients turn job offers down! If this happens, editing an existing CV or resume isn't going to cut it.

EVERY role you apply for must be written as if it's the only one in the world for you! You have to show how your skills and experiences meet that specific job spec. Once you learn to fish (or write a strong application 😉) you'll be able to do it again and again.

"The CV support helped me transform my teaching skills into skills focused on sales. Because of this I secured an interview and I was confident in my skills set. I could focus on what I could bring to the job using the correct language and I was no longer worried about my lack of sales experience because what I had was better. I know that it was because of this change of mindset and transformation of my skills that led to me being offered a position at that company.

Thank you Jo for enabling me to do this and for helping me overcome one of the biggest hurdles when leaving teaching."

"I feel lucky to have found Jo, someone who really understands the world of teaching yet she has a vision and knowledge of a life and career beyond teaching. At a time when I have felt lost and overwhelmed she has already helped me to feel positive and excited about the possibilities for my future beyond the classroom." Anna"

"The combination of course content, coaching and comprehension that Jo provides to mainly ex-teachers (or those planning to transition out) is extraordinarily effective in dealing with both the nitty gritty of researching and applying for a position, or starting up on your own, whilst ensuring that a completely embraceable and empathetic holistic approach supports your well-being along the way. I cannot recommend her services highly enough to those of you who are transitioning after many years and/or need to resolve any associated residual issues." Anita

Jo’s coaching has inspired me to start taking action and to make changes in my life. After just a few sessions, I am feeling far more positive and excited about a future beyond the classroom. Talking to Jo is a real tonic; she is always calm, cheerful and encouraging. We achieve so much in each session and I come away with lots of ideas for practical steps to take straight away. She has helped me understand my ‘value’, beyond just being a teacher. I have so many ideas I now want to explore." Jo

"Jo was so helpful with helping me write my CV! She enabled me to build a CV that had an attractive layout and clear sections for elaborating on my skills and experiences. She was incredible when helping me to translate these into more corporate and job specific language with the understanding of what teachers really do! She also explained the decisions based around which content to use in order to make the CV job role specific using a job advert and description. And also how to apply this kind of formula when writing a supporting statement too. I feel much more confident writing my next job specific CV having had the training and feedback from Jo the first time round. Thanks 🙂"
